BRIAN SCHWALB WINS DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL OF WASHINGTON, DC
Schwalb Earns Overwhelming Majority of the Vote in the District’s Democratic Primary
Washington, DC — Incumbent Brian Schwalb has secured the Democratic nomination to serve a second term as Attorney General for the District of Columbia, in a resounding vote of confidence and support for his first-term record of protecting District residents, defending home rule, advancing public safety, and holding powerful interests accountable.
Since launching his reelection campaign in September 2025, Schwalb has built broad support across the District, raising more than $1.3 million from over 1,500 DC donors through the Fair Elections program and earning endorsements from over 20 labor, advocacy, and business organizations.
“I am deeply honored to have earned the support of District residents and grateful to the tens of thousands of supporters, volunteers, community leaders, and voters who have given me the opportunity to serve the city I love.
This campaign has always been about fighting for a safer, stronger, and more affordable District for every resident. Our city is facing tremendous challenges—from federal layoffs and a growing affordability crisis to continued attacks on DC’s autonomy by a hostile federal administration. At the same time, we are entering a new chapter in our city’s history with a new Mayor, new Delegate to Congress, and several new Councilmembers taking office in 2027.
I want to assure District residents that the Office of the Attorney General will continue to be a trusted advocate—an office that listens, responds, and fights tirelessly on their behalf. I look forward to working with the next generation of city leaders to strengthen the District, uphold the rule of law, and improve the lives of all residents.
While the work ahead will be challenging, I am optimistic that, together, we will build a safer, stronger, and more affordable DC for all.”
Schwalb will advance to the general election on November 3, 2026.
